At the age of 13, she was being mentored in a local fabric store, and made a wedding gown for her very first bridal customer. Joan went on to develop her natural talents by studying at the acclaimed Fashion Institute of Technology and Syracuse University, graduating with degrees in Fashion Design.
Afterwards, Joan continued her professional career working in the Garment District of New York City. She specialized in design and manufacturing and worked at the most respected dress houses in the business, including Ellen Tracy, Liz Claiborne, and Ann Taylor. Her bridal and custom design work continued; her personal experience helped advance her professional career, and in turn, she gained valuable knowledge from working with the leading manufacturers in the business. A career opportunity saw Joan relocating to Columbus, Ohio, where she was a Technical Designer for The Limited, and then a Technical Design Manager for Express.
Her passion for bridal and special occasion apparel culminated in 2000, when Joan opened her own bridal boutique for custom, couture bridal gowns. In 2006, she expanded her services and opened Joan’s Bridal Couture, a full-service bridal salon. Whether it is a custom-made gown, a designer dress, or many of the other services offered, with Joan’s Bridal Couture, Joan is able to provide the personal attention and expertise necessary to create the wedding or special event of your dreams.
